Timberland’s Premium 6-Inch Waterproof Boot gets a refined upgrade with a Croc-textured leather and tumbled finish in a new Avirex collaboration.
Timberland is gearing up for a limited-edition drop of its Premium 6-Inch Waterproof Boot, this time paired with Avirex, the leather legacy label founded in the mid-1970s. Rather than undergoing drastic changes, the collaboration leans into a timeless look, enhancing the classic wheat-toned boot with new textures and subtle branding.
The staple yellow nubuck hue is swapped for a smooth, tumbled leather that evokes the buttery feel of a well-worn vintage Avirex jacket. At the collar, the padded leather is croc-embossed and features a stitched Avirex “A” emblem. Additional branding appears on the heel of the midsole, stamped with the Avirex wordmark. Packaging includes traditional two-tone brown-and-yellow laces, plus an alternate orange set for variety.
Avirex, launched by Jeff Clyman in 1975 as a military apparel brand, gained street-style traction in the 1990s. Clyman sold Avirex in 2006 to Centric Brands, which has continued to run the label. The brand has enjoyed renewed interest in recent years as vintage ‘90s and early 2000s aesthetics surge in popularity.
Timberland’s own Premium 6-Inch Waterproof Boot remains a perennial favorite, often resisting fleeting trends. This year has seen it paired with notable collaborations from brands and retailers such as Supreme, One Block Down, and Snipes. The boot’s ongoing appeal is also reflected in in-line variants, including a woven leather edition and luxe Horween Leather Co. iterations. A high-profile example from the collaboration space is an $85,000 Timberland edition tied to a Louis Vuitton project that surfaced in November, featuring 18K gold hardware.
The Avirex x Timberland Premium 6-Inch Waterproof Boot is set to launch on December 15 through timberland.com and select retailers, including DTLR. The retail price for this collaboration is $225.
