Get ready, Wario fans! You can now experience Wario's sole 3D platforming adventure on the Switch 2! Nintendo is steadily rolling out classic games, and the latest addition is a real treat for subscribers of the Switch Online + Expansion Pack.
Released back in 2003, Wario World was developed by the legendary Treasure, the studio behind titles like Gunstar Heroes and Ikaruga. In this action-packed platformer, you step into the shoes of Wario, the garlic-loving, flatulent, and wonderfully unconventional hero, who is the antithesis of Nintendo's iconic mascot. Wario's castle has been invaded by the malevolent Black Jewel, a sentient piece of jewelry, and it's up to Wario to punch, slam, and generally pulverize his way to victory.
Wario World was a commercial success for Nintendo. Many reviewers loved its chaotic gameplay. But here's where it gets controversial: the game's short length was a common criticism, which, interestingly, was also the case for Luigi’s Mansion, which was added to the Nintendo Classics app just before Halloween.
Wario World is now the seventh GameCube game available on the Switch 2 via NSO. The service initially launched with titles like The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, and Soulcalibur II. Since then, Nintendo has added Super Mario Sunshine and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance.
It’s been a fantastic week for NSO subscribers who love retro 3D platformers. Nintendo announced that Rayman 2: The Great Escape and Tonic Trouble are coming to its N64 emulator on December 17.
What do you think? Are you excited to revisit Wario World? Do you agree with the criticisms about its length? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
